they got you thinking that you're special
that you're more unique than everybody else is
ive come to tell you youre not special
you're not bigger than me you're not bigger than all of this
im gonna drop what im doing
cuz happiness is a bigger thing to me
you're dancing to the 2 step
the sun in your hair
never feeling any more free
all of our fingers
left an imprint on our hearts
you got so close to me
i want to here you singing to me
you were standing all alone
and you were talking to yourself in line
i dont know exactly where it is i draw the family line
i climbed in your skeleton
made myself feel so right at home
you got a new guy
and hes climbed right in made himself so right at home
baby stop crying
and go fuck yourself you got a real bad attitude
i told you everything
every single thing there was i knew
this isnt my house
it could be your home
and if you need me
use a telephone
but right now i feel a bit too loud

Perfectly encapsulates the teenage experience. Finding this album while still young and in high school was the best decision I've made in quite awhile. charlesjr
From the first deadened cowbell to the last dissonant guitar interval, Dutch quartet Geo's new record is shaped for impact. Bandcamp Album of the Day Apr 25, 2024

As a massive Modest Mouse fan I was skeptical when I read people comparing The Guru to them. They have a similar lo-fi rocker vibe to early MM but are way dancier and way less serious (as far as lyrical content). The main similarity is between the vocalists, especially when they're screaming. That said, this band definitely has its own sound and this album is worth more than a few listens. BionicGiblet
